I have been married for the last 5 years, but lived with my partner for 5 or 6 years before that. She recently got made redundant and has had to rethink her future. After a lot of soul searching, she has decided to go back to university and study to become a primary school teacher. Although I think this will be really good for us as a family in the long term, in the short term it means I am the only bread winner in the family for the next couple of years. We have a large mortgage, 2 children and a couple of dogs, so money is going to be very tight. I have had to sit down and review all our outgoings as part of a complete financial review. I have been through my bank statements to check all my outgoings and see where savings can be made. By far the biggest saving I made was after looking on quote life cover and seeing how much I could save on my life insurance premiums. I was astounded at the savings I could make every month that could go towards daily essentials for me and my family whilst not lessening my cover.
